Business :: Little Giant Ladder Systems- Make Your Choice Wisely.
Here at Little Giant Ladder Depot we get numerous emails and phone calls from customers bewildered and upset by unprofessional Web based distributors. Usually it is a web site selling Little Giant Ladders along with a variety of other hot TV products. Many of these internet sellers have no idea what a Little Giant Ladder is all about. Most of them have never even seen a Wing ladder! We have found claims and descriptions used on many of these websites that range from inaccurate to down right ridiculous. The incorrect information given over the internet is often the cause for customer’s frustration.

Little Giant ladders come in a variety of duty ratings and the proper selection is often confusing to prospective customers. Many want to opt for "Ultimate" special-duty-industrial Type 1AA Little Giant ladders. While every so often exceptionally heavy applications call for this type of Little Giant ladder, typically it’s overkill. All Wing ladders are Type I, Type 1A, or Type 1AA which means all of them are Industrial Grade. Type 1 means it’s rated for 250 lbs, Type 1A is rated for 300 lbs, and Type 1AA is rated at a whopping 375 lbs. The Type 1A 300 lb "Original" Little Giant Ladder system is by far the most widely sold.

ANSI, the American National Safety Institute sets up the guidelines for all ladders sold in the United States. These ANSI standards require manufacturers to build a safety factor into all ladders. A Type I 250 lb rated ladder has a safety factor of 4 built in, that means the ladder must hold at least 1000 pounds without failure on certain tests. Similar Safety factors are required on the more heavy duty ladders as well. We recommend our customers buy the "Original" Type 1A Little Giant ladder system due to its Lifetime Warranty, free accessory offer, and minuscule price difference between it and the Type I counterpart. A higher rated Little Giant ladders are heavier and consequently more difficult to operate.

What about the Fiberglass Little Giant ladders? The fiberglass material used to produce the Little Giant "Ultra-Lite" ladder series is quite unique. All other ladder manufacturers use Pultruded fiberglass which is heavier than the Fiber Wound fiberglass material used on the Little Giant ladders. While the unique properties of the Ultra-Lite LittleGiant make it lighter than their previous version it is still be heavier than the Aluminum models of the same size. The "Ultra-Lite" Little Giant ladders are also more expensive.

The main reason to buy a fiberglass Little Giant ladder is its non-conductivity they also have a greater tolerance to aggressive uses and environments. In most if not all chemical plants, oil refineries, etc. you will be required to use a non-conductive (fiberglass) ladder. These categories of facilities usually have internal regulations that may be more restrictive as to the types of ladders allowed on the site. We are seeing more and more calls for fiberglass Little Giant ladders for various applications. But, choose the material wisely- we still sell about 1 Fiberglass Little Giant ladder to 40 Aluminum LittleGiant Models.

So far one of the best covered web topic concerns the variety of sizes of Little Giant ladders. Many web sites suggest you to buy a taller model saying that bigger Little Giant ladder can always be collapsed while smaller one may be insufficient for the job. This makes a good point, but not good sense. The Model 26 Little Giant ladder is a very large ladder. It is a lot to handle even for a professional. Many get returned due to the fact they are too much ladder for a homeowner. "It’s too big", "it’s too heavy", "it’s hard to use", "I’d rather hire a professional to work this high"- these are the typical reasons for such an exchange. We don’t want blame other sites for trying to sell you more expensive product, but be aware of your needs and choose the correct Little Giant ladder the first time. Here are some goods rules to follow, for a single story home the Models 17 Little Giant ladder should do fine, a two story home calls for a Model 22 for certain projects, very few homeowners really need a Model 26. A contractor on the other hand is used to carrying and using 24’ & 28’ extension ladders all the time. We would only recommend the models 22 and 26
