Digital imaging has invaded our world like the breaking of dawn. For many people it brings new possibilities and widens horizons immensely. And raises many new questions as well. The recently launched MyPhotosoft.com site dedicated to reviews of digital photo software is increasing its audience with useful and profound content. It is developing quickly with new series of articles, daily news updates, and Adobe Photoshop tutorials.
MyPhotosoft already features a collection of reviews on selection plug-ins, including Adobe’s Extract, Corel KnockOut, Vertus Fluid Mask, onOne MaskPro, and DFT EZMask. Every plug-in performance is tested and examples are given to the public. “We approach every program thoroughly, testing all of its tools and features declared by the developer on a set of images ranging from professional shots to amateur pictures taken in imperfect lighting and in inappropriate surroundings” – Nataly Tikhonovich, the site editor says. “Every collection of articles is to be accompanied with a table comparing similar tools, for the users to see what they gain or loose by choosing a particular program, and a several parameter rating”.
The collection being published now investigates the area of raw conversion. The already published reviews feature Adobe Camera Raw, Capture One, Bibble Pro, ACDSee Pro, and converters. The reviews on Raw Shooter Premium and Lightroom with comparison pages are to follow.
The plans include also a series on panorama makers, such as AutoStitcher and Panorama tools, and then digital framing solutions.
The site also welcomes news writers and developers to the news section with digital software news and related subjects. The news is daily updated.
The MyPhotosoft MasterClass already has a number of very interesting Photoshop tutorials covering various topics – starting with Photoshop basics like the often overlooked perspective option in the crop tool and finishing with collage creations. The authors are also welcome with their original tutorials.
When asked how the idea of starting MyPhotosoft developed, Nataly Tikhonovich, the MyPhotosoft editor, said: “This site started with the first single step of any journey — buying a digital camera. The first thing I did with my pictures — I tried to remove the red eye effect. First with the camera’s accompanying software, then, naturally, with Photoshop. The new facility and knowledge were coming to me as an avalanche – adjusting colors, shooting raw and converting, adjusting raw photos in a converter and almost forgetting about under- or over- exposure. And learning the myriad of possibilities Photoshop provides. You try them. You learn more and more, and at some point, people around you start saying “That’s great! How did you do it?” That is when I thought of sharing observations, thoughts, knowledge and ideas with others. Not only with those who are around, but to all kinds of people everywhere. Those who are just starting out with digital photography will get much benefit, and even those who are already professional might discover a program they haven’t tried”.
MyPhotosoft.com is aimed at finding answers to its users’ questions and helping them to find their way among the multitude of photo software programs.
Registered members will have access to interactive features: discussing articles and tutorials in the Forum, uploading images to the Gallery, adding articles and tutorials of their own, and making personal comments and evaluations. Occasional special offers are available for registered users as well.
