Musician, Robert James Ritchie, is perhaps best known as Kid Rock. Born, January 17, 1971, this American rapper, singer and rock musician has become popular for albums he has created such as, “Devil without a Cause” and “Cocky”. Two of his well known hit singles include, "Bawitdaba" and "Picture." Robert James Ritchie’s backup band is called the “Twisted Brown Trucker”. They are a well-known outfit that fuses rap (http://www.ticketnest.com/Rap-Hip-Hop.php ), southern rock, hard rock, country and blues.
Kid Rick [Robert James Ritchie] struggled for 8 years to reach stardom after he was freed from Jive Records [1991]. By 1999, his brand of Lynyrd Skynyrd boogie rock became a household name. Devil Without A Cause reached sales worth more than 11 million. Kid Rock then shifted into Southern Rock and Country music, as he understood what music listeners wanted to hear by this time. Rightly so, his shift paid off, and he managed a massive cross-over hit with Sheryl Crow. This hit was "Picture" [2003], which received nominations from the CMA's.
History:
Kid Rock [Robert James Ritchie] was born in Romeo, Michigan. His career began when he was just 11, when he was a member of the b-boy group, called the 'The Furious Funkers'. Influenced by Run DMC and The Beastie Boys, Kid Rock picked up a low priced belt driven turntable. He locked himself in his room and worked on his art. When he reached high school, he developed a reputation for serving as a DJ at parties. Afterthat, Kid Rock joined Bo Wisdom of Groove Time Productions, in Mt. Clemens, which was a significant climb for him. Here, fans enjoyed "that white kid rock", and this is where he came to be known as Kid Rock.
The Independent Days Era 1992-1997:
In 1992, Kid Rock was offered an independent record label, Continuum Records. It helped him to release his second album, The Polyfuze Method [1993]. This one saw some success on college radio at Central Michigan University, and "Back From The Dead was a top 20 hit. However, "U Don't Know Me" failed to make it to the charts or any top music channels. Continuum went bankrupt with its efforts, and Kid Rock was out of business again. Between 1997 and 1999, Kid Rock added on drummer/vocalist Stefanie Eulinberg to his outfit. Atlantic released “Devil without a Cause” that followed "Welcome 2 The Party" in August 1998. To support the album, Kid Rock went on the Vans Warped Tour.
The History Of Rock Era 2000-2001:
In 2000, Kid Rock reacquired the rights to his early creative material. He then released The History Of Rock. The only new track in this album was "American Bad Ass". It was quite successful as it was nominated for being the Best Hard Rock Performance at the 2001 Grammy Awards.
The Cocky Era 2001-2003:
Kid Rock dated actress/model Pamela Anderson during this time. He released Cocky, which was forerunner to Devil Without a Cause. It had Kid Rock’s staple sound of rap rock and funk, as well as some of his country blues. However, it was a disappointment, and it did not sell much.
A New Direction 2003-2006:
In 2003, Kid Rock bounced back once more. The first single from his new self-entitled album was a country/hard rock cover of Bad Company's "Feel Like Makin' Love". "Single Father" became his second country hit in 2004. With a range of other new numbers on it, the album did reasonably well. Fans can look forward to a release from Kid Rock and Twisted Brown Trucker, called "Rock And Roll Jesus", which is expected to be out by October 9, 2007.
